News for Members by Jane Bowden

Coaching:

Saul will be restarting Saturday morning junior coaching on 11th July while continuing with the Tuesday sessions. Families that are ‘owed’ sessions as a result of last term’s lockdown, will get those sessions back this term.

Saturday adult coaching with Andy: the 9 till 10 session has already started but for those who prefer a lie in, the 10am to 11 am session will be available if enough people register for it to make it viable. Book via Attenborough Tennis Academy website and remember only 5 places are available so get in early! Available as pay and play or (at a reduced price) for members. Individual coaching sessions are also available with Saul at £30 for non members and £25 for members.

Summer camps:

Saul is hoping to run tennis camps this summer provided that he can do so safely. There’s some organisation to be done but, hopefully, it will be possible. If you have any observations about this please let him or me know.

Cardio?

Saul is considering running a cardio tennis session again on a Tuesday in the daytime. If you would be interested in this please email Saul at coaching@attenboroughtennis.org.uk

Social Play:

Thursday evenings (mostly ladies) organised by Sorriya and Boo have been extremely successful and last night we had some great tennis from 5 till nearly 9 for something like 19 people! Saturday and Sunday afternoons are also proving popular. This week we have 3 courts on Saturday from 2 till 4 and I court on Sunday. It’s particularly good to see some old faces returning as well as some very keen new members. If you would like to join the distribution list for the ‘Saturday Socialites’ please let me know.

Competitive Play:

There’s still no news on league play – one suggestion was that we should use the summer to finish off the Winter league matches which seems like a good idea but there’s been no response so far.

The Singles League matches are really getting going as is the Singles Handicap Tournament. If you want to enter the Handicap Doubles Tournament, you need to get in touch with Saul by Sunday 5th as he intends doing the pairings, handicapping and draw on Monday! Many thanks to Saul for organising these tournaments – they’ve brought another dimension to the club and it’s a great way for new members to meet other members.

Clubhouse:

Dean is currently working on a risk assessment for opening the club house but, for the moment it remains closed, except for Saul and emergencies! Please continue to observe all Covid 19 precautions especially in relation to using hand sanitiser before and after playing.
