News from Jane Bowden.

Please ensure that you have ‘opted in’ to the Wimbledon ballot on the British Tennis/ LTA website before 17th February even if you personally do not wish to go. The number of tickets we are allocated as a club depends on the number of people who have opted in.

League Rule change:

There is a proposal to change the summer league format from 2 sets per rubber to 16 games. The vote is set for the LTA AGM on 28th February. Please let me have your views. Thanks to those who have already responded.

For various reasons the end of season dinner scheduled for September has now become the start of season dinner booked for Friday 17th March. I am awaiting the menu from Finton’s but please keep this date free in your diaries as it will be a very special evening.

Working Party:

The club has purchased a lot of sand for the courts which has been delivered to the car park. This now needs moving to the shed area. If anyone is available to help shift it, could you be at the club at 1pm on Saturday 11th February, i.e. before afternoon tennis starts.

Following the survey of members, the committee has sourced a new Magnet kitchen which will come flat packed. Does anyone know a good kitchen fitter who could remove the old kitchen (including the tiles) and fit the new one? Please let me know so that I can find out prices. Once the new kitchen is fitted, we will replace the flooring in the kitchen area, get a splashback fitted and look to getting the decoration done.

The nights are rapidly drawing out so soon we will be looking at getting evening social play going again. Meanwhile enjoy the Wednesday night social at the Tennis Centre as well as the weekend social on Saturdays and Sundays.
