Team news and singles’ league

A few bits of urgent info to send out.

The mixed match tomorrow (3rd Team) – home against Bingham – has been cancelled as the opposition couldn’t raise a team. As the weather forecast looks good for tomorrow and the courts are looking fabulous, why not come down for social play instead? There will be tea and biscuits available. Juniors welcome too with parents to either join in with the adults or play on the fourth court. It would be really good to get Sunday social tennis off to an energetic start.

We now have 2 extra teams entered in various league: a fourth men’s team being run by Mark Green aimed, in particular, at bringing on juniors, and a men’s team in the Aegon league which has a 2 singles plus 1 doubles format. The downside of so much competition is that there is pressure on court space. Unfortunately, due to extraordinary circumstance, the courts will be needed for the first Aegon match next Saturday 9th April in the afternoon. We realise this will be inconvenient and disappointing for a lot of players, however the 4th court will definitely be available and there may be other courts too. So, there will be some social play possible in between supporting our new Aegon team (should be some good standard play to watch) and/ or you could come on Sunday again for a proper social play.

Sign up notices are in the club house for the new singles’ league (anyone can enter) and for the Club Championships. These will be run earlier than in previous years.
