Dear All

Coaching

As I mentioned in the last Update, we have a new OTB coach called Ross Stokley who will be focussing on Attenborough. He has sent me the following details:

  • Licensed LTA Level 3 Coach
  • PTR Qualification
  • Spent three summers coaching in Greece
  • Been coaching for 4 years
  • Happy coaching all ages and abilities of players for private lessons during the week and at weekends.
  • Represented Bedfordshire at all junior levels
  • Currently plays for Nottingham Trent University Men’s first team
  • Phone Number – 0775 2227815
  • email: stokley@hotmail.co.uk
  • Re-stringing.

Please contact Ross direct to arrange coaching

Scott will also be continuing to provide some coaching too. Tonight he starts the Tuesday night Pay and Play sessions under floodlights at George Spencer school. These run from 7.30pm to 9pm and cost just £6. Please pass on this information to anyone that you think might be interested in trying tennis in a fun and supportive environment. Hopefully, some of those who enjoyed the summer Pay and Play on Tuesdays and Thursdays will return for this.

Lesley Wragg ‘8s’ Tournament

Many thanks to Liz for organising the tournament and the tea. It was good to see Carl, one of the ‘parent’ members taking part. Modesty forbids me revealing who won!

Matches and Teams

Winter matches are now well and truly underway with the ‘needle’ match last Sunday between the mixed 1st and 2nd teams going according to form! The status quo was undisturbed – for now…

Courts

Thanks to everyone who has worked on the courts recently, removing leaves and beechnuts. Having filled two dustbins and 5 sacks it’s a bit disheartening when you see how many leaves are still left on the trees waiting to fall. It is vital though that we keep the courts as clear as possible for safety reasons (as well as to avoid some ‘interesting’ bounces when the ball hits a nut).

Floodlit Tennis

This continues at George Spencer school. 6pm to 8pm. £3 for 2 hours, £1.50 for 1 hour.

Weekend Tennis

Saturdays continue to be popular for social play but don’t forget we also play on Sunday afternoons. 1.30 pm onwards both days. It would be good to see more people down, especially as the weather continues to be kind to us.

Next Committee meeting

Will be Monday November 17th. Committee members are reminded to bring an electric fire (and wear thermals)!
