Sunday 7th | Pay and Play next Thursday | 3rd mixed team | Gardener | Next committee meeting
Just a reminder that there are 2 matches at the club on Sunday 7th September including one in the afternoon. This means that only court 4 will be available for social play.
Monday social play is still continuing although if you can get there before 6 it’s probably a good idea as the nights seem to be drawing in rather quickly.
For ladies, there will be no coach for the Pay and Play people next Thursday as Scott is on holiday, so the ladies who normally join his session have been invited to join our match practice session. They are a little nervous but I have told them how welcoming everyone is.
We have agreed to put a 3rd mixed team into the winter league. This will give further opportunities for more people to play matches although there was some debate over whether we have enough players who wish to play, and also who would captain. Fortunately Liz has agreed to captain initially but if anyone else would be prepared to do this then please contact me. The winter league captaincy is much easier as you don’t have to organise food etc. just drinks and biscuits. Also to make it easier, could anyone who is interested in playing mixed matches and who is currently not being asked, please let me know. I will ensure names are passed on to captains of all three teams. For all teams the format is 3 lots of 12 games so there is a much reduced time (and energy!) commitment.
The website has been thoroughly updated and there are links to results sites, coaching information (for children and adults and for members and non members) etc. Please also remember there is also a Facebook site where we can share information.
We are still looking for a gardener either for a one off clear up or a regular job through the summer. If you know of anyone who may be interested please let Sorriya know.
Next committee meeting is Monday September 22nd. Please let any member of the committee know if you wish something to be discussed. At the moment the social calendar is rather blank apart from a mixed ‘Eights’ tournament being run by Liz towards the end of the month (further details to follow). If people are interested in another social event and have any suggestions then let me know. I’m happy to organise if people want to do something. Another meal maybe? Somewhere different? Or would you prefer to wait till next spring/new season?
