Attenborough Update 14

News for Members by Jane Bowden

Dates for your Diary

Please note that dates and times of matches have been sent out with membership confirmation. A copy of the Summer Fixture lists is also available on the notice board. This will indicate those (very few) occasions when the astroturf courts are not available for social play. Some dates may need to be rearranged by the team captains but they will provide you with advance notice of this by displaying a notice on the club house door.

Days for your Diary

The tennis activities at the club have been updated on the Schedule of Play (on display on the notice board feel free to take copies away) but please note in particular:

To attend any of the sessions organised by On the Ball Coaching do contact Angela Hamilton, On The Ball Coaching tel: 07967 594129 or contact Chris on: 07946 370513
or email info@ontheballcoaching.com.

Results

Various captains reported match results at the AGM but, for those of you who did not attend, the basic message was:

To everyone who took part in all the matches; well done, and a special thank you to all the captains who do a great job getting teams out, often in very difficult circumstance. Thanks to Doug who is moving on to captain the Men’s second team, to Mike Ab who takes over the third team, and to Chris Lacey taking over the first team. A special mention has to go to John Outram who has captained TWO teams for many years but is now ‘retiring’ from one.

Junior Section

Scott from On the Ball is now heading up coaching activities at Attenborough and there has been a steady rise in involvement which we really hope will continue. There are 3 teams in the leagues for juniors and I hope to have results to publicise in future newsletters. We are keen for all juniors playing at the club to become members so that they can benefit from being able to use the courts outside of the scheduled coaching times. Especially in the school holidays, membership (which is extremely cheap!) makes playing tennis a real bargain as courts are often free in the day. All we ask is that all players respect the courts and facilities and ensure that correct footwear is worn.

Many thanks,
